Lead Pastor: Chris McNerney
Chris is married to Courtney and is the father to Maerwyn, Malachi, Asher, and Noah. Chris worked as a clinical psychologist in NYC with HIV+ children and adolescents. When a friend invited him to attend a service at Redeemer Presbyterian Church in Manhattan, he was transformed by the preaching of the gospel and the community he experienced. After coming to faith in Jesus, Chris shifted his career to full-time ministry, training lay leaders and helping to lead Redeemer’s children’s ministry. In May 2018, he graduated from Westminster Theological Seminary in Philadelphia and served as a church planting apprentice at Gracepoint Church in Pennsylvania. In 2021, he moved to Los Angeles to plant Providence Church. He loves reading, hiking, taking photographs, going to the movies, skiing, playing tennis, and drinking coffee.
Assistant Pastor: Paul Kim
Paul has been a lead pastor in Philadelphia and an assistant pastor in Los Angeles before helping to plant Providence Church. He has a passion to help people be transformed by the gospel. He is also the Director of Coaching for City to City Los Angeles and an ICF certified coach for pastors. He has degrees from Missio Seminary and Westminster Theological Seminary, both in Philadelphia. Paul is happily married to Janette and enjoys hanging with his four boys, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, exploring restaurants, and staying fit.
Worship Director: Nathan Scoggins
Nathan has been leading worship since he was 15 years old and his mentor put a guitar in his hand and said, “You’re playing next Sunday.” Since then he has led worship at churches throughout Los Angeles as well as internationally. He has a passion for helping people connect to Christ through music, and loves when the church lifts its voice in song. Married to the very patient Kate for over twenty years, he has three daughters who put up with his terrible dad jokes, and a deep appreciation for Star Wars, U2, and Earl Grey tea.
Children's Ministry Director: Rachel Habib
Rachel is always surrounded by kids, so being Children’s Ministry Director is a natural fit. She is married to Peter and together they have three young children. She is passionate about kids growing up to know Jesus, to understand the gospel and to have a solid, comprehensive faith foundation. She moved to LA for college and earned degrees in physiology (UCLA) and dental hygiene (USC). In addition to working in the dental field, she has worked or volunteered in children’s ministry since 2008. She can usually be found in the kitchen making snacks, listening to music and drinking a lot of coffee.
